Classical Uganda is a 10 day safari operated by Wild Frontiers and staying in lodges and permanent camps.

The safari concentrates on visiting western Uganda and includes the highlights of:

  • the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with two opportunities for gorilla trekking
  • Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • Kibale Forest for chimpanzee trekking

Wild Frontiers - Classic Uganda   9 nights

On your arrival into Entebbe (or your accommodation if you have flown in earlier), you will be met by your safari guide and the rest of the participants for your 10 day safari through Uganda.

Wild Frontiers is a specialist safari company operating in Uganda and Tanzania. This special small group safari departs on scheduled dates and is based on visiting Lake Mburo, Bwindi National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Kibale Forest. It is possible to trek for gorillas in Bwindi and chimps in Kyambura Gorge and Kibale.

Accommodation on the safari is in a selection of lodges, tented camps, hotels and guest houses. All rooms will have private facilities. Travel will be by comfortable 4x4 safari vehicles. The safari will run on a minimum of two participants.

The basic itinerary is:

Day 01: Arrive into Entebbe, Uganda. After completing entry requirements, you will be met by your guide and transferred through to the nearby Boma Guest House for overnight (bed and breakfast).

Day 02: Depart on safari with a flight westwards to Kihihi froim where you'll drive through to Bwindi for three nights at Buhoma Lodge. Afternoon exploration of the area (full board).

Day 03 and Day 04: opportunities to trek for gorillas. Alternatively local exploration visiting villages and projects. Overnights Buhoma (full board).

Day 05: Depart for the Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Game-viewing and overnight at Ishasha Wilderness Camp (full board).

Day 06: Full day game-viewing in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Overnight at Ishasha Wilderness Camp (full board).

Day 07: Game-viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park, including a boat cruise on the Kizinga Channel. Overnight in a lodge in the northern part (full board).

Day 08: Optional chimpanzee trek in the Kyambura Gorge. Afterwards, depart for Kibale National Park. Optional swamp walk in the afternoon. Overnight in a lodge (full board)

Day 09: Trek for chimpanzees or exploring the Bigodi wetlands and surrounding area. Overnight in a lodge (full board)

Day 10: Morning departure for Entebbe where the safari ends in the evening (no flights out please before 20h30).

The safari terminates today with your transfer through to Entebbe Airport (or your onward arrangements - do NOT book a flight out prior to 20h00/8p.m.).

Costing Details:


Included: services of a knowledgeable safari guide;  twin/single accommodation in a selection of lodges, tented camps, hotels and guest houses (all rooms will have private facilities) including meals as indicated; safari transport and game viewing by comfortable 4x4 safari vehicles; boat cruise of Kazinga Channel; National Park entrance fees.


Not Included: all services prior to and after the safari (international flights and accommodation), travel insurance, items of a personal nature, gratuities, drinks other than those specified; trekking permits (Kibale chimps US$150, Kyambura chimps US$50, gorillas US$600). 


2015 Price: £ 3295.00 per person sharing PLUS trekking permits (US$600.00 for each gorilla permit, US$50.00 for chimp trekking in Kyambura if required, and US$150.00 for chimp trekking in Kibale).


Single supplement: £ 595.00 per person
